Lloyds Online Mortgage - can't proceed online

Has anyone any experience in applying for a mortgage online with Lloyd's? Got the AIP OK, went to continue online and it's telling me we can't and have to phone them. Phoned them but the person I spoke to couldn't seem to give me an answer as to why. Just wondering what the issue could be?

Yes, I have just set up a mortgage with Lloyds. The mortgage advisor has to set it up for you and then send a link to access it.

Oh I see so you can't just do the whole thing online then? I have the AIP and then go to proceed online and it's like nope! Other lenders I have just done it all online.

What sort of transaction are you doing? Certain transactions require you to receive advice, ie debt consolidation or porting, so you would be therefore directed to an advisor.

We are moving so I just want to apply for a new mortgage.

Are you wanting a term that goes beyond retirement age?

WimbyAce · 08/02/2025 18:43

I have done it up to 70 which seems acceptable with lloyds. I did wonder whether it was that.

Do you think it is because 70 is past my state pension age which is 68? Maybe just triggers it so you have to speak to them?

Yeah probably. There are certain circumstances where you will be required to receive advice. Lending into retirement could be one.

OK great thanks, they are phoning me back Monday so hopefully something straightforward!

After a bit of faff this is now sorted (not sure how) and I can now apply online!
