Can I claim a pension back (paid into wrong NI number).

I've just found an old payslip and noted that the NI number on it is wrong. It's from a hospital that I only worked at for 9 months but I did pay into my NHS pension whilst I was working there.
I've already spoken to the NHS trust (utterly useless help desk lady) and could find no trace of me working there.....although I suspect she never looked.
Also spoke to NHS pensions who said they'd email me a form to try to trace it, but when the email containing said form arrived, there was no email on it, just a link to general changes in the NHS scheme.
I know it's only 9 months but it's annoying that I paid into the scheme but it went under the wrong NI number.
What can I do to possibly reclaim this?

Has all your tax and NI also been paid under the wrong number?
Dont know how you fix it beyond speaking to HR but I’d also be concerned about the other bits associated with NI number.

I am sure that I was able to raise a similar issue through the government gateway

I'd say the same - contact HMRC and say that you believe the wrong NI number was used for that period of your employment. Tell them the correct and incorrect numbers and they shoud lbe able to help.

Thanks all, it's only for a one year period when I worked at a particular NHS trust. Everything else is correct. Very grateful for that small mercy!
