I receive UC, a small amount as my earnings have increased throughout the years I have had my claim.
In recent months however, due to cost of living my outgoings have been significantly higher and also have some debt, I have needed financial support from family.

Will I be penalised for this during the review? Each month there are transactions for sporadic amounts of money on my bank statements. I've read that money from friends or family as well as child maintenance payments aren't usually classed as earned income.
Is that correct?

Small amounts will be ok but if it's larger figures they might be more interested

Earned income is, in effect, wages.

The concern here is unearned so different regs:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/376/regulation/66

If it's not on there it counts as Capital. A common one that falls as capital is rental income where the property's value is disregarded eg where steps are being taken for possession/sale.
