Life Insurance 39 year old cost

Obviously I know it is very individual but as a 39 year old what do you pay a month for what level of cover? Especially interested if you have existing health conditions.

I really need to take some out, I have (well controlled) high blood pressure - which is genetic, had it since late 20s, worsened in pregnancy but otherwise healthy/normal BMI/none smoker & minimal alcohol intake!

Also did you use a broker, any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked if you already have cover through your work? Eg if you’re paying into an NHS pension you also get life insurance cover which pays out a tax free lump sum of twice your salary.

I do have an nhs pension so would get a payout of some degree but not enough to pay off the mortgage so I do need something extra.

Last year I tried a well advertised broker but it was so convoluted & long winded that I gave up, it was 2 weeks on & I still didn't have actual prices yet they were calling constantly & the guy I was dealing with was rude & borderline aggressive when I wanted time to consider things so I gave up.

Approaching 40 I am
becoming more aware of my own mortality so need to get it sorted asap instead of it continually rolling over on my to do list!
