How soon will I get a UC appointment? (Existing claim)

I’ve recently married and DH and I have double barrelled our surnames. I was told to do a change of circumstances online, which I did. It is already an existing joint claim, we have just slightly changed our names.

Our UC statement was due today but hasn’t been produced. Upon calling UC, they’ve said we have to go in to the job centre to verify the name change and payment will be stopped until we do.

I have to wait until they contact me with an appointment. Our payment is due next week along with bills such as rent and other things due so I’m pretty stressed right now.

Are we likely to get an appointment any time soon?

Did they say you needed an appointment? My sister and her DH just went in with their documents and they saw them there and then. Well technically they had to wait 10 minutes but no appointment was required.

I'd call them back and ask if you can do that or just tell them you need an appointment asap due to not being able to pay bills if your benefit payment is delayed. They might let you upload evidence online like with bank statements or ID verification

Thanks @Sushicucumbersalad I did what you suggested and it’s all sorted. 😊
