Card stopped and HSBC are not 24/7

I leave work at 18:30 and work in a call centre, where we can't have our phones out

I checked my phone this evening to find HSBC had sent a message to log into my app as there had been suspicious activity on my phone

After logging in, I saw five transactions I didn't recognise, not two like HSBC had said

Two £20 for Utilita Energy Limited and three $5 transactions for somewhere in Baltimore

I wasn't able to provide my telephone banking PIN, so I had to go home to find it

I've just spent 15 minutes going through identification steps, resetting my telephone banking PIN, hearing my account balance before being able to press to speak to someone

They've just cut me off because their lines close at 8pm

Fuckers

Are you sure you spoke with hsbc and not scammers as I believe they are open until at least 10 pm

03457 404 404

24 hour HSBC fraud line

Gingernaut · 28/11/2024 20:31

The instructions stated it was 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays

I tried again and got it sorted , card is cancelled, the pending transactions will be reversed and a new card will be sent withing 4 to 6 working days

What's pissing me off is how the fraudsters knew I'd been paid

Pay day is normally Fridays, but NHS workers in my trust got paid today

And wtf is CCBill.com selectme?

Found the answer

CCBills.com is one of the major payment vehicles for OnlyFans 🙄

Are you sure it was hsbc you were calling? Fraud lines are usually open 24/7

WorkShmork · 28/11/2024 22:14

Also concerned about the possibility that you called someone else.

They didn't know you had been paid. They try the fraud any account they can, chances are some will have money in them.

There is a 24hr number on the back of the card but the actual fraud teams are not 24hr . I found a fraudulent payment on my card a couple of weeks at 21:30 and I cancelled the card straight away and clicked it as a suspect payment on the online banking and I had to ring the fraud line the following morning . This was with NatWest and it was all sorted , new card arrived etc within 3 days .

I only received a text message from HSBC, telling me to log into my app

I logged in and only called the 'official' number
