I read on the tax credits website that if you get above the minimum tax credits then you can claim a funeral grant, does anyone know how much this is?

I was thinking of taking out a funeral plan for mum who is 80, she doesn't have one at all. But as we are on tax credits of "25 a week I was wondering if we would get any help with any costs (ovviously when the time came...)

your mother needs to get the grant, not you.

if she is on pension credit, she can check or you check for her.

but the funeral would be hers, how could she get the grant?

because she's on pension credit and unable to pay for her own funeral or leave money in her estate to cover such expensese.

If there is anyone else who can be called upon to make the payments then the funeral grant wont be paid. We had this when my husbands father died we where told that we shouldnt have taken on the resposiblity as there was other people who could pay (husband brother and sister even though they didnt see fil for years)but they will pay for a basic funeral if you meet the criteria
