Hi, my 22 year old ds is unable to find work. After he made a claim for Job Seekers Allowance he found out he hasn't paid enough national insurance to receive it.
He heard nothing and after waiting 3 weeks he phoned and was told he needs to claim universal credit. He can do that online.
Since his temporary contract ended, we have not asked him for any rent, so his living expenses nil at the moment.
Can anybody tell me how the system works these days? In the 90s I to workrd for the DWP and we used to issue a form to claim the equivalent of universal credit at the time of claiming. I think he is entitled to a small amount of money.
Does anyone know if the system is still the same and involves attending to sign on every fortnight?
Thanks in advance
