To take on a mortgage of this size?

Hi,

we’ve been approved for a mortgage of 3k per month against monthly take home if 8k combined. I know it’s manageable but I’ve hit. Bit of a mental block of taking on a payment of this scale.

does anyone else pay a mortgage that’s proportionate with these amounts?

Depends what your other outgoings are really.

Without childcare costs… not too worrying IMO.

With childcare costs.. takes more careful thought.

Yes, we still save and have a very good life

Impossible to say without knowing your other outgoings.
Do either/both have cars on finance?
Do you have children?
Are you prepared if the worst was to happen and rates went up again at some point?
