Bad credit car finance

wheretogetit · 12/10/2024 17:06

Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone knows of a car finance company that offers financing for individuals with poor credit.

My net income is over £3k monthly, and I can afford to pay £900 a month for a car. Is it even possible to get car finance under these circumstances?

Recommendations or suggestions for a car finance company would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

How bad is bad credit?

You have a better chance with a large deposit, as the lower the value of the finance the less of a risk there is. If you have £900 per month spare I’d save that amount for 4/5 months so that you have £4000+ to put down as deposit. With poor credit you’ll be facing a much higher % APR so the lower the loan value the better for you as well.

If you have someone willing to act as a guarantor then that will also help.

In your situation I'd spend as little as possible and rely on taxis and public transport for 2/3 months and buy the best car I could for £2-3k then hope it lasts at least a year without needing serious money spending on it.

Then save your £900 pm for a year and you'll have £10k and rising to spend on a car when you need to buy one without the mug's game that is high cost credit for a depreciating asset.

You want to pay nearly a third of your income each month for a car? Bonkers.

I agrée with the other posters - if you've got poor credit, then the terms of any credit agreement that you're offered will be dreadful, and the last thing you should be doing is taking on more debt.

You would have to be pretty silly to go into this looking to spend a 3rd of your income on a car with finance with bad credit. You are going to get financially rinsed! You could go and buy a car for £900 and then save up for a few months and but a better one.

This can't be a serious post can it?

I'm sorry but you have bad credit and you want to spend £900 on a car a month? You clearly haven't leant your lesson and are about to make another bad financial decision.

Use public transport for a few months and buy a car outright for £3-£4k. That would be a sensible thing to do.

Assuming public transport is a possibility ( you'd probably lose your job if you relied on it from my village) then using it for a couple of months and buying outright makes much more sense.

I recently used Streamline car finance because they did car financing despite my bad credit.

Can you tell me what car you got and deposit and monthly payment info please? I might use these. Thank you

Carfinance247 seem quite lenient but you will pay a very high interest for the privilege.
