Universal Credit Claim Seperate Households or Not?

Because myself and my Adult daughter live together would we be classed as one household when both claiming UC or will we be classed as a two separate households? The website says “You’ll get one standard allowance for your household.” so does that mean we will get a standard allowance each or just one between us both?

thanks

I believe the person who owns or leases claims the uc housing element but both can claim the uc but could be wrong

You will be classed as separate households.

If DD is over 18 and beyond being in education at A level equivalent etc then you are two households for UC. Both will get a standard allowance at the level for their age

If renting then if, as is usually the case as a parent you are the named tenant, you can add a Housing Cost Element (HCE) to UC.

Depending on DD's age etc and other factors, there may be an expectation she'll pay towards rent - a non dependent deduction from your HCE.

Hope this helps.
