Jewellery insurance

I have recently inherited a ring. I've taken it, and my engagement ring, to be cleaned and assessed.
My question is about insurance. Should I just add to our home insurance? Or do you recommend a special firm?
Thank you for your advice.

I would think it depends on the value it’s assessed at - most jewellery has to be named individually above a certain level, depending on your policy. You will also need to regularly get it valued if it’s worth above a certain level. I can’t see the point in using a specialist firm rather than adding it to your home contents insurance though, unless it’s worth thousands?
