If you are in receipt of Income Support or JSA, you can apply for help with housing costs. There is a 39 week waiting period (so important to keep lender informed) and then they only contribute towards the interest element, not any repayment of capital element. Not a huge amount of help if you have a repayment mortgage, but more useful if you have an interest-only mortgage.
