Pension for historic part time jobs.

I am in my 50s and have paid into a pension linked to my job. However, years ago, I worked part time for Marks and Spencer while I was at 6th form college and beyond from age 17 to 20 and then Arcadia during my late 20s at University. Both roles were part time. Would I have been part of either of their pensions? I didn’t give pensions a thought then, but I am wondering now if I have a small pensions with either of them. Does anyone else have experience of this or know where to look. I am aware that the Arcadia pension may be gone, but were employees automatically on the M&S one perhaps?

It's unlikely given your age. Until fairly recently employers often didn't allow part time staff to join pension schemes.l and even now there are minimum earning requirements for auto enrolment.

I agree with this - unlikely you would have been automatically enrolled in the pension schemes at that time as a young part time worker. I’m a m bit younger than you and also worked part time for Arcadia while at university and I wasn’t in the pension scheme. I think you would have had to opt in if you wanted to. However it’s always worth checking. You can use the links above but a quick google suggests these are the relevant administrators so you could try just contacting them directly.

Thanks all. Worth a check but I doubt I’ll have anything with either. At least I have a pension!
