I’m confused about my Maternity Pay -UK

Hi all,

I’m confused at how my Maternity Pay is worked out. I started my Mat Leave on 1st April 2024.
I was informed that Mat Pay was increased to £184.03 but the SMP part of my wage slip has never reflected this amount. It has always been at least £40 less.

Am I meant to be getting the £184.03 amount each week and the my employer makes up the shortfall of what my entitlement is for that time? Or is there a process in place like “Averages of weeks worked prior to taking leave” to work out the SMP?

It’s baffled me for a while and I want to know if I need to request they fix it but I haven’t been able to address it until now due to health problems and mum brain 😑 (FTM)

any input/advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s £184.03 or 90% of your average weekly earning, whichever is lower so I guess the second part is what applies to you?
