I submitted my application on Monday and thought all benefits would stop immediately but received a tax credit payment (paid weekly) this morning (thursday) has this happened to anyone else?

I've left a message in my journal but worrying I may have missed something in my application.

Personally I’d would put that aside - they are awful for fucking up and will come chasing the following tax year. I’ve been caught out with similar!

The payment had possibly already been released. It will just be classed as an overpayment .

This happens sometimes.

Claiming UC results in a stop notice being sent to Tax Credits as a result of which the TC claim is closed effective the day before you claim UC. Tax Credits will then finalise your claim based on income to date in the current year.

As PP have said sometimes money has been released at or about the same day as the stop notice.

I'd suggest putting a note on your journal/letting Tax Credits know and being ready to have it treated as an overpayment. Whether it actually is will not be clear until HMRC have finalised the TC claim.
