Mortgage Declined, HELP!

Hi all, I'm new to Mumsnet so be easy on me!

My husband and I recently applied for a joint mortgage and it got rejected; (he is the only one on the mortgage for our current flat) no idea why, both have almost perfect (977 out of 999 and 998 out of 999) credit scores, our mortgage broker can't seem to figure out why Natwest has declined our application either, the only thing I can think of is that when I was 15 (14 years ago) I was a fraud victim and it was with my Natwest account that they promptly shut down without warning and 5 years ago I was gifted some money before my dad passed and that account was also shut down (also with Natwest) and it took me 3 months to get it back (also without reason). Could they have an internal mark against me? Will it affect my getting a mortgage with another lender?

Help! Feeling super upset and discouraged.

They've said there is no chance of appeal and they won't give a reason. We are on a tight timeline so we have just left it now and our broker is putting in our new application today/tomorrow.

Our names are not that common lol so it's unlikely!

Why, despite being married, aren’t you on the current mortgage? You also mention you don’t have a credit card in your own right. Do you work? You mention you have a bank account, so why don’t you just apply to your bank for a mortgage?

My husband and I applied for our first mortgage with Natwest. He was a manager for Natwest and I worked for them for a few years. We were rejected on the basis that my job wasn't secure enough - I was a newly qualified teacher. We had no problem getting a mortgage from Halifax.

My husband was working for Natwest when we applied for our first mortgage as well. But we were rejected while we could easily afford to pay double the monthly mortgage. We went to Nationwide at the end. They granted straightaway.

How long did you wait to hear back from Nationwide?
