How big a deposit do you need for a mortgage now?

It all depends on the lender. Some lenders don't want to take any risks (or reduce their risks) so are making their mortgages only available to those with bigger deposits. If you have a samller one, you can still get a mortgage but expect to pay a higher rate on it.

How about look for a smaller property - say 2-beds? That might bump up your deposit % a bit.

(I'm in the same boat btw)

You can still get 10 percent deposit morgages - financial bloke on news was talking about it this morning.

I think it is 25% for the better rate mortgage deals.

Hang on, don't buy now! Esp if you're a ftb. Prices will come down. Keep saving, make sure your credit rating is as good as pos, wait.
