Under what circumstances would someone be deported from UK?

My friends H has been arrested for assaulting their DD. I am assuming he will be charged and go to court. (He is out of the house and is under orders to stay away, she has a solicitor and is in contact with the SS).

He is not a resident and is here on a working visa of some description. If he is convicted, but say gets a suspended sentence, will he be deported? (I'm assuming if he gets a sentence he WILL be deported at the end of it)

If it's a "first" offence here (he has offended in another country but don't know the outcome of that), what are the chances he will actually get convicted? UK seems to be extremely good with protecting children from what friend has told me.

Any ideas/advice to ease the weight on our minds? (Friend can stay here with kids as she is a citizen) TIA

Not sure CAB could probably advise you better - however I think it would be a long journey with the deportation with hearings, appeals etc
