Damn it.

Everytime we feel we have this money thing sorted we don't. How are we so crap. We are so stingy (terry nappies, hoemade food, don;t buy much etc) Have done all the homey stuff (w=switched energy stuff, save water, etcetc) Husband working mega over time, me deperately hoping going back to work will help. Have a small loan but have nearly paid it off......

What else is there?!?!!?!?

SO worried and stressed

Do you have any bits and bobs to sell in boot sales, flea markets, online?

Do you have a craft skill you can use to make something to sell?

Can you work on days/shifts when your H isn't working?

Do you plan your finances in advance (e.g. with a spreadsheet with income and spending on it)? If so, do you know what kind of shortfall there is each month and whether this will reverse once you are back at work/loan is paid off?

If not, it might help to plan. When DH was a student and money was tight we started planning and had weekly limits (including food etc) we kept very close tabs on spending to keep us in limits and then if we underspent we could have a treat with that money. Also, having a plan of our finances made me far less stressed about it because I felt in control. Even if the plan shows that you're getting further in debt it helps you to plan how to deal with it because you can see how much you need to make/cut down to break even and whether it's just a temporary situation.
