Can someone tell me how premium bonds work? Do need to open an account for ds if his grapndparents want to buy him some?

We have a savings account for ds, but it's with a bank. Can his grandparents buy him bonds, or do I need to open a post office account first? Seems a bit ridiculous for a two year old to have two accounts!

you don't need an account - you can buy them over the phone, online or fill in a form and post it. Or you can buy them at the post office

ah, thank you! I thought so, but my dad seems to think it's more complicated than that.

One more question - what happens if you win? How do you get the money? Does it go straight into an account?

small wins come to you in a cheque which you bank. Or I think you can automatically reinvest them

Big wins - not sure I think you get a personal visit - I would like to find out
