Separation, Child Maintenance, Nursery Fees

I think my marriage is ending and I am utterly heartbroken. The only thing keeping me from completely falling apart is my son.

If we do separate how does money work? Are nursery fees added on top of child maintenance or are they included?

What else should I be thinking about?

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, very anxious and all over the place.

I didn’t want to read and run, though I have no idea of the answer - just think you would get more replies if you posted in Relationships. Good luck OP

Child maintenance is the minimum the non resident parent is expected to pay.
They cannot be made to pay towards nursery fees. You can ask but they may say no.

childcarechoices.co.uk will show what support you can get- I get 85% of nursery paid through UC.

Child maintenance will be a set amount based on your exes earnings, unless you come to an agreement where he pays more. Nursery fees are not included nor taken into account when calculating maintenance.
