UC have underpaid housing - how to approach?

Hi, very just updated my rent with UC and the existing rent amount in the UC system was lower than my actual rent (by about £9 per week)

I declared my rent last April and checked back in my journal, and yes, I had declared it correctly.

I raised a query with UC and they said it was my landlord (a HA) that had declared it at the lower rate.

This was a human error and all my documents and indeed my rent have been at the higher amount all year.

I've been struggling financially and just didn't query the amount in payment as I knew I had declared the correct amount and from then in just got on with surviving. I find UC incredibly challenging at the best of times, let alone now realising I've been underpaid and have to get more involved with the system.

Here we are one year in. How do I go about having this resolved?

I have sent a note in my journal asking for a formal response but would massively appreciate anyone with UC knowledge sharing protocol or jargon that might be helpful here.

Thank you

You mention weekly rent. Do you have rent free weeks, for example around Xmas?

That's quite a common cause of queries re the Housing element.

UC doesn’t cover service charges.

It also only covers 52 weeks of the year divided by 12. If the year is a 53 weeker (like this year) then the rent UC will give will be slightly lower.
