Please help me understand my wage slip

I work for the NHS, when I came back from mat leave in September I had x amount of hrs annual leave to take which I took 1.5 hrs each day to shorten my day so only worked 6hrs per day 5 days a week and 7.5 hrs a/l per week.

First wage slip was pretty straight forwards and just showed basic pay and retention pay, second pay slip had basic pay, retention pay, O/T pay from Sept and afc absence np pay for something like £17.

Next pay slip was the same as 2nd but afc absence np payment was slightly more. Next one the afc payment was again more around 160. I don't normally check my wage slips I just assume they're correct if my wages are around the same each month which us why I've only noticed this recently.

I googled it and it said it could be due to a/l but surely that's included in my basic rate? I just don't understand at all, am I going to end up having to pay this all back?

No, that is correct OP- you are paid for all your leave and is included in basic pay however you accumulate afc pay so I think it is an average of past 3 months pay it’s so you don’t lose out on unsocial hours etc so makes sense that the afc pay is increasing xx

@TwinklyRoseTurtle thank you so much for replying to this and sorry I didn't reply sooner I only just realised it had had a response.

Does it make any difference that I don't do any unsociable hours, I work normal office hours and do 7.5 hrs o/t each week. I only ask because I got my wage slip today and this payment is on there again but even more.

I didnt get my retention payment this month though due to it not being processed quickly for the new financial year so could this be why?

The 7.5 hours OT will count too OP as it’s from your net pay that’s how it works so it will be right, if you ever take annual leave or sick pay also comes under afc absence too x
