Restarting child benefit payments

I am registered for child benefit but not currently claiming payments. Following budget changes, I'd like to start claiming payments again from the start of the new tax year. Does anyone know if I can request payments now to start from 6 April or if I have to wait until then? Believe I can request payments to start via my HMRC online account but not sure if I can specify a date (prefer to avoid calling HMRC this time of year if poss). Thanks!

Hi I did exactly the same a few days ago as we can now get some CB again will have to pay some back but that's OK
I just logged in online and requested it restart on 6th April 24

We went online to apply a few days ago, and i dont remember it asking what date to restart tbh.

I claimed CB but then my salary went over the threshold so I contacted HMRC to declare this. They wrote back saying I didn’t need to do it as I wasn’t self-employed. HMRC know your salary change already. Now that the CB threshold has changed I’m eligible again, so that does mean the CB payments restart automatically?

No, you are responsible for stopping and starting CB payments.

It is also your responsibility to set up self assessment and declare CB if you go over the threshold in a particular tax year, whether self employed or not
