yay - I got my IS through today..........now - how long until I can expect to here about the housing benefit??

I applied at the same time but didn't think to ask at the time how long it would take for the housing benefit to give me a yes or a no........

housig benefit will come from the council, they will wait for confimation of IS so theyc an work out if/how much HB you are entitled to. If they class the rent as fair/usual amount for you area you should get full HB.

totally depends on how quick your council is - it will be in a backlog waiting to be done.

• if they don't think the rent is fair/usual for this area thenn I'll seriously wonder what planet they're on - I'm getting an excellent deal here (I'd be lucky to get a 1 bedroom flat for this price!)

ye i know, 1 of my friends pays £450 a month for a two bed flat and his kitchen bathroom and front room could fit in my front room lol well its more of a worksurface with sink and cooker at the end lol.
So you should get a good deal to its for ds's aswell. You could always phone the council in the morning and enquire about your claim.
