UC migration and carers (and what a drama!)

What a joy doing this is! I filled in my info yesterday to migrate from tax credits to UC. My husband went on today to register for a joint claim and it wiped out all the bank/savings info I put in so we've had to redo it all. Now it won't confirm his identity so he's probably going to have to take time off work to go to the jobcentre (annoying!)

Anyway, I get carers allowance but it said I should inform them (carers) I'm now getting UC? Why?

Also as we will only get UC during the transitional protection phase, am I better off keeping the carers allowance? Or should I I ditch it for UC then claim again once the UC stops?

No don't do that. Your CA will just be deducted from the UC award. Make sure you have the Carer Element of UC added to your award (you'll keep that). Receiving CA (or the Carer element) precludes you from any work searching on UC. You may also find keeping the CA (despite it being deducted from UC) is better for household budgeting. You only get paid UC once per calendar month.

Can anyone help me?
Im migrating over to UC from Child tax credits. I have 9 children 5 have disabilities, 4 get MR DLA and I get Carers Allowance. Will I automatically be put in the no work requirement group? Will I still need to attend a f2f interview?
Also, my husband is a police officer ,works full time and does shifts. Does he have to have an interview? I can’t see how proving his ID is going to be a problem.🤷‍♀️
This whole process has been incredibly stressful! Why can’t they just swap us over???? They have all our details already! Why so many hoops to jump through!?…………AND breathe.🤣🤣
