Universal Credit and childcare Query

pallyloo · 04/03/2024 08:35

My childcare for March runs from 1st March to 31st March. My qualifying period is 21st each month to 20th following month.

Will they give me back the whole of March because I've provided proof it had to be paid upfront for the whole month on 1st March

Thank you

yes and no. They only pay for childcare that has happened already- not what you have paid for.

my childcare is from 1-31st but my assessment period is the 14-13th

i get half of each section if you get what I mean. So on the 20th i get part if this assessment period and part of the previous.
if it’s your first childcare period it can be difficult but it evens out after the 2nd one.

If you need help you can apply for the discretionary support fund for upfront childcare costs.

Thank you the discretionary fund paid for my first payment which was for the whole of March. My assessment period is 21st to 20th and the nursery have put up their bills by quite a lot from 1st April so not only will I be short because of the assessment period issue but also from the fee rises from the first month.
