Benefit Fraud Advice

Blailey · 27/02/2024 07:38

I’m looking for some advice regarding benefit fraud and the chances of me going to prison.

My partner is the father to all three of my children and is registered at his parents house. We have been together for 10 years and I have claimed HB, CTC and have now moved over to Universal Credit. I have always claimed as single as he’s registered at his parent’s and to be perfectly honest, we struggle to make ends meet even with the benefits. When we moved into our home 7 years ago, I only put my name on the tenancy.

I have recently received a message from UC about a compliance interview over the phone. I think a friend that I fell out with has reported me, she knew what was going on with my benefits.

Since I got the message, my partner has moved into his parents as I’m so worried that I will go to prison.

Could they have been watching my house? I’m so worried that if they know he’s been living with me for 7 years then I will have to pay all of the money back and I could get a criminal record. Hopefully now he is at his parents, they will see he’s not living here.

Had anyone been in a similar position? What was the outcome. I’m loosing sleep!

I suspect this whole thread is a load of made up, froth-inducing crap.

So save your blood pressure and don't feed the troll.

It's theft - you've lied. Sorry but you deserve everything you get

Lots of people struggle but we don't steal money

Let's hope this was a wind up.

If not, people are just getting so sick of others screwing the system to receive benefits and have three children. Three children just why when you can't afford them.

I really, really hope this government takes a massive cleaver to the whole benefits system. I would, however, like to see those who are genuinely unable to work or in a caring capacity funded sufficiently. If there weren't as many piss takers that may just be possible.

For those of us who have never received a benefit in our lives, and having already worked for nearly 44 years it is beyond galling to hear of the brass neck of others.

We simply cannot face "those with the broadest shoulders" being now expected to fund more benefits for those that simply desire money as a life style choice.

This. I’ve worked in DWP fraud - it doesn’t work like this. 🙄

I dont understand all these horrible posts. In my view the government has screwed us over. I am a single mum of 2 kids and I work full time, but I see no benefits. What are the government doing to help me? Nothing! They screw us over, raising taxes, letting immigrants in, high cost of living.
You do what you need to do to commit fraud. Because at the end of the day you are just doing what you need to do to survive. The government has no clue! Oh never mind that you work full time but you can't afford to feed yourself! And who is paying that bill when you collapse, with malnutrition or poor health because you are freezing and can't afford heating bill, even though you are working FULL TIME.

What a joke. Does the government not know by leaving people in poverty it actually increases fraud?

I can say this because I don't commit fraud because its hard to make money on the side, but I feel for others because this is what it has come to to survive.

Never mind the opinion of others, just do what you have to do to survive.

It's like the government saying that you are now homeless, even though you are a British citizen and you have worked all your life, but you know what? We are going to make you homeless and you can starve. What are you going to do?? Say oh well every one struggles I will just starve to death. Or nick food from tesco? I definitely nick food.

If the government treats us like rubbish then treat them the same. I can't understand the logic of most people that they say well everyone struggling. Well why should you? You are working right? WTF is all this poverty while government sit on their fat asses eating steaks!

I support anyone doing "fraud" because you have got to think of yourself and your family

And then people on MN bleat on about how rare benefit fraud is. Literally half the claimants are on the take, ripping off that taxpayer.

Benefits need to be cut massively to get these lazy thieves back to work instead.

Blue1999 · 28/01/2025 15:42

How does it work ?

It doesn’t work like that. I’m a widow, worked full time for decades. can claim no means tested anything, still being taxed to buggary, so I live within my means. 🤷‍♀️

The answer will never be to thieve off of taxpayers.🙄

My dh is military. He's never home. I can't work due to MH and other disabilities. I get £35 PIP a week.

We can't afford the bills. His petrol to get to work 7 hours away. He has to buy his food and kit.

But I never said he didn't live here. It's illegal and I'd get what I deserve.

Has your partner looked into family support through his job? If I recall there are charities and support services that may be able to help you if you're struggling. Wishing you the best

So you’re a liar and a thief and are losing sleep about going to prison? You may get a few months in prison and a hefty fine. They do watch peoples houses… so I’m guessing if you had a call then they have some type
of proof. Anyone caught committing benefit fraud should be banned from receiving any type of government benefit for life.
