Paying mortgage with credit card??

Does anyone know if you can pay your mortgage payment with a credit card? I bank with abbey and due to lots of difficulties this month i wont have the money to pay my mortgage on the date I should.

I could ring them up and ask if they can change the date of the direct debit, although I'm not sure they would (and I also dont want my ex to find out as he is still on the mortgage). But, I can pay it with my credit card, as I only need help short term - I should have enough money in a month to pay it back of my credit card.

I shouldn't think so, but I am sure someone will come along and tell you differently.

Can't you borrow it from your Mum and Dad ?

You'd have to draw the cash from your card. Which means an extra fee. Might be better to get a short term overdraft.

I already have an overdraft that they wont increase for me - I've already asked. I've been struggling for ages and this month is crunch time, but I will be sorted in a month or so, i just wanted to know if i could give them a credit card number and they could deduct it from there.

I work for a bank and we only accept payment by debit card not credit card. Are you on a repayment mortgage? If you are having difficulties you could swap to interest only to make things cheaper for you.

I am on repayment Luby - not having probs with it that I want to swap, as my probs will be sorted next month, just needed short term help - could i change the direct debit date maybe?

Does it have an option to take a payment holiday? Many do. Talk to them and see what they can do for you.

You could change the direct debit date but it would depend how much notice they need. I would give them a ring in the morning and see what they can do for you. They might be more flexible if you explain the situation and they can see that the mortgage is normally well managed.
