Remortgage or personal loan

We have been looking at doing g up our garden and building a granny annexe in the garden.

We will need to take out a loan or remortgage for this.

Has anyone remortgaged for home improvements and would advise this?

I remortgaged to landscape the garden.
I think it makes sense to go for additional borrowing on the mortgage for home improvements as the rates should be less than a personal loan.

Your home and garden form a capital asset which can have borrowing secured on it via a mortgage, in return for a lower interest rate than an unsecured loan. It therefore is logical to remortgage if you have equity in the property. I did this for a conservatory - no regrets. It's a bit of a no-brainer.
