Home ownership v mortgage / debt que

Does being the sole person on the deeds of a house have any impact on who is on the mortgage?

Long story short but the upshot is that DH has offered to sign the family home over to me in an effort to convince me he won't get into further debt. We are currently joint owners and are both on the deeds and mortgage. I don't have the salary needed to be on the mortgage solo so this would have to stay in joint names. Can I be on the deads and claim the house is mine, but us both be paying the mortgage??

I can't speak for all lenders but the answer would be no for the Bank I work for
No way would we increase our risk by taking him off the deeds

Usually have to remortgage solely I'm afraid.

I would say even if you could remortgage in your sole name there will be questions asked about the reason for this and if the answer is along the lines you have given it will cause concern
We only consider joint to sole name remortgages in cases of a relationship splits or perhaps the odd scenario which is valid and feesible

I doubt your mortgage provider would agree to this.
