Obsessed over checking bank accounts

I have realised that I check my bank accounts daily as well as my savings account which to be fair has very little in it. It's almost the first thing I do daily. I also check my credit file at least once a week. Does anyone else do this?

Good to know I'm not the only one. Every morning I log in to my bank accounts, savings and credit cards. I have list of outgoings that I tick monthly when they've gone out and I use my phone calculator yo hold my daily balance, everyone I spend I take it off the calculator so that I know what I've got.

It's only in the last year that I've managed to have savings and even then it's only a small amount compared to most Mumsnet users but I like to check in and manage my money better. Previously I lived month to month and would spend anything left over sometimes on essentials but sometimes just for the sake of spending but now I transfer to savings and watching it grow gives me a boost.

I think xH does this. the micro-managing of finances was one of many things we differed on. For him it was like breathing & for me it was suffocating. I have so many other things to think about.

Check mine pretty much daily. Certainly days that I know there should’ve been money in or out. DH and I have a joint account so I do often ask him if he’s spent in x shop.

Savings account I don’t look at that much though.

I can’t imagine not knowing my balance any time I want it. My DP don’t use internet banking and carefully read their statement every month when it arrives. But then it could be over a month after some weird transaction happened!
