Is it Saturday 3rd Feb for the next results on the app?

No, it’s Friday the 2nd.

No, it’s Friday the 2nd.

Oooh that's not long at all! Is it always a Friday?

No, it depends when the second working day of the month is.

PlipPlopChoo · 28/01/2024 13:01

Whilst the rate reduction is not good news for bond holders. 4.4% will still be the second highest rate in over 15 years.

WhereGlasses · 28/01/2024 13:21

I agree with PP, premium bonds are only really worth it if you're a higher rate tax payer. If not then the returns are better on a savings account.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 28/01/2024 13:30

What date can I expect Agent Million to be calling?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2024 15:23

I think

Wed 31 - Millionaires
Thur 1 - over £1k
Fri 2 - app

But happy to be wrong

I think so too @Blondeshavemorefun
I shall clean the worktops and put a candle on in readiness for Wednesday's visit 👍😂

Jellybean85 · 28/01/2024 16:08

Excellent. Ive booked the day off Wednesday to get some stuff done around the house so I'll be ready Grin

PlipPlopChoo · 28/01/2024 19:51

The whole 'only really worth it for higher rate taxpayers' argument that is repeatedly trotted out baffles me. It depends what you want on your investment.

Lets take somebody who holds £25,000

Taking the March interest rate if they earn the average 4% on their premium bonds that is £1,000.

Come March probably the best you will get out of a savings account will be circa 6% which is £1,500

Breaking that down into the monthly return they are only £41.67 better off. For somebody on £10k bonds the figure is only £16.67. The way I see things is that I am happy to earn a little bit less on average for the small chance of coming into a life changing sum of money. The monthly difference of £16, £42 or whatever a month would make zero difference to my life.

You could make the difference back by cutting out a takeaway each month. But would you say takeaways are only worth it if you are a higher rate tax payer?

The excitement leading up to the draw is also something you would not get with a savings account.

Happiestathome · 28/01/2024 20:13

@PlipPlopChoo I’m of the same thinking. An extra £40/50 is welcome but doesn’t change the way I live my life at all. The possibility of a life changing big win is why it’s the right place for my savings.

1975wasthebest · 28/01/2024 20:23

Come March probably the best you will get out of a savings account will be circa 6% which is £1,500

Which you would have to pay tax on, so you’d get a bit less than £1,500 after you’ve paid HMRC. Maybe that’s another reason why Premium Bonds are more popular than ever - the no paying tax aspect.

littleblackcat27 · 29/01/2024 06:15

@Jellybean85 - I've got the day off on Wednesday too - going out in the morning to get light on car fixed, but I'm sure Agent Millionaire would wait whilst I stop at Tesco on the way back to get a bottle of champagne....Grin

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 29/01/2024 10:38

I'm not home on Wed so will make sure ring camera battery fully charged 👍

DaydreamerBetty · 29/01/2024 11:53

Considering NS&I have reached their financial target, I keep getting emails to top up my premium bond account. You would think they wouldn’t be spending money on marketing.

1975wasthebest · 29/01/2024 12:12

You bought a block of £5K before Christmas, as I recall @DaydreamerBetty ? I'm looking forward to seeing what unfolds this week! I bought a block of £1K bonds around then.

DaydreamerBetty · 29/01/2024 13:40

@1975wasthebest yes I did and they still want more! 😂 Yes it will be interesting to see if the block generates a win. Will keep you posted and good luck in the February draw🍀

Cudz · 29/01/2024 14:37

Here's hoping this February is mine or DS's lucky month as it's been an awful start to 2024 for us so far ☹️
£1million would be lovely but I'll happily take £100k and above please and thank you!

Sunday12 · 29/01/2024 14:52

I’d be excited with 1k and above! But ideally the million please. I need a home for my children

hotmailgmailoutlook · 29/01/2024 14:52

@littleblackcat27 I'm sure agent can wait. Hope he wont be like DPD driver 😂

Bimblesalong · 29/01/2024 15:27

Currently helping ds1 put an offer on a house, so a chunk to help out would be awesome.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2024 15:52

At the moment would happily win £1000 but yes obv £100k be nicer

Also re results, anyone who has the blue NS&I app will be able to check on Thursday evening for pending wins.

WeAreBorg · 29/01/2024 17:54

I had a dream last night that I got the ‘sorry no luck this time’ message on my app. I hope it’s not a premonition. Although if I have developed the ability to see the future through boring dreams then I guess that’s pretty cool.

NextPrimeMinister · 29/01/2024 18:49

Do you think Agent Millionaires just work once a month?

Guess they wait by the phone to find out where they will get sent to. What a job!
