Funding care home in Scotland

A family member is being assessed to see whether they need to go in to a care home. They have under £8000 savings and are in receipt of state pension and a small private pension. They own their house, however, their wife lives at home.

Can anyone tell me whether the cost of care will be charged against their share of the home?

I will seek advice on the family members behalf from citizens advice but hoping for some info now if possible

No, if the house is being lived in by someone dependent it is won't be charged.
