And how long did you wait? How did they let you know and did it go in your favour

InMySpareTime. How interesting- perhaps these are two of their stock observations for anyone not screeching in agony and can give an understandable medical history ? Understanding what is wrong with you, has no relevance to how you literally can’t find or get somewhere you’ve not been before. It makes no sense. Like saying well you can play the guitar so you must be able to assemble an ikea wardrobe. Good luck with tribunal 🤞🏼

Reviving the thread as my tribunal is by phone call today. DH is home to support me and step in as necessary, I'm trying to stay hopeful.
I'll post on here afterwards in case that helps others going through their own PIP tribunals soon.

The tribunal was tiring but felt much fairer than the assessments. Hopefully I'll have the points I deserve. Won't find out until the letter arrives though, as they overran too much to give me a result by phone apparently.

I don't know about this part, but I've been on pip for about 5 years. They sent my forms again in April 23 and I sent back. Heard nothing, then a letter saying they'd not dealt with it yet do my award would go on until Dec 24, or potentially longer of they still haven't done it. So I've had no assessment. They must be flooded with new claims? Since COVID I think tons more people applied. It's true you have to be really incapable of day to day tasks to get much.

InMySpareTime · 16/07/2024 18:13

I am really incapable of lots of day to day tasks, but it's difficult to explain it in terms of the categories of need they require, and the implicit meaning behind each category.
Even the tribunal judge agreed that the wording of the "reading and writing" category makes it almost impossible for most disabled people who struggle with reading and writing to score any points in.

InMySpareTime. I’m so glad you felt the tribunal was fairer than the assessments. Good luck . I hope you get the points you have applied for. My mandatory reconsideration was rejected but the main descriptor that is what I have most difficulty with seems to have been completely ignored/overlooked in the decision reasons. I’ve applied online for a tribunal as I really feel they just totally didn’t consider what I described or the letter from my GP and the diagnosis and how it affects me.

InMySpareTime · 16/07/2024 20:04

The time from my initial phone call application through assessment, MR and Tribunal was a year, and my award was 2 years long so whatever happens I need to go through this all again in the next year anyway.

InMySpareTime · 17/07/2024 08:30

Lost the appeal, they decided that I'm not the right kind of disabled, and that despite being functionally housebound I could plan journeys if I put my mind to it.
I'm sad now, it took a lot for me to admit I need help and they've basically said fatigue isn't a good reason to be unable to perform daily care tasks.

InMySpareTime · 18/07/2024 08:26

I've used the impetus from this disappointment to spur me on to contact the Gp about right to choose to reduce the 7 year wait for an autism and adhd assessment, so when it comes to renewal in a couple of years I'll actually have "proof" of my struggles from official bodies instead of just DH's testimony about how he cares for me (which they roundly ignored).

Tolip · 18/07/2024 08:30

I had two. One in 2019 one in 2023.

Decision wasn't overturned at MR but was during the tribunal both times.
