I’m sure this has been asked before, but what does value of bond mean? Does it mean it was that bond that won? E.g from the October spreadsheet, someone in Wiltshire won £100K and the value of the bond was £5K. They have full holdings but does this mean that the fact they have FH is irrelevant because I thought the more bonds you have the more chance you have of winning? There’s lots of high value winners with bond values of four figures or less.

OneFrenchEgg · 11/10/2023 14:28

I think it means the block of bonds containing the winning one was £5000, so they may have FH like this:

£2000 bought 1998
£5000 bought 1999
£43000 bought 2000

Etc

I think the same as you, but I don't see the relevance of knowing how much in total was purchased when the winning bond was purchased. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can shed some light...

It's this, but I've got no idea why they include this information. I don't see the relevance of knowing how many bonds I purchased at the same time.

All bonds are worth £1. If you have full holdings you get 50,000 "entries" into the draw.

OneFrenchEgg · 15/10/2023 09:02

Oh I thought it was to make it easier for people to check.

cupcakes12blossom · 15/10/2023 09:15

I won £1k once when I had more savings! I did a check on the winners to £1k list the day before…I was confident it was me even before checking the bond number as I purchased such a random amount (think it was £10,028)..oh to have that much in savings now 😂

Daffyyellow · 15/10/2023 09:41

I know I should know the answer to this, but . . . Money invested in premium bonds today, won’t be in a draw for a month, so first eligible draw would be December? TIA

cupcakes12blossom · 15/10/2023 10:37

That’s right..so I tend to buy new bonds at the end of the month rather than start…if you win and it is automatically reinvested then they are eligible straight away - so my October £25 prize will be eligible in the November draw

I never knew that about the prize reinvestment. I’ve just checked and the bond I bought at the end of September and my most recent prizes, won at the beginning of October, are all eligible for the October draw. The ones I bought in this last week are for December.

Whatthetrolley · 18/10/2023 23:08

It happened today - I got a prize warrant through the post!

Bonds bought in 2002, still registered in my maiden name and no idea what my holder number was so have never checked online! Luckily I hadn't moved!

Now to work out how I can match these up to the same account that I have for children's bonds.

Pinkdressinggownbelt · 18/10/2023 23:17

i Only have a holders number , where can I find premium bond numbers please

CaveMum · 19/10/2023 07:54

@Whatthetrolley congratulations! What a nice surprise! NS&I are good at tracking people down eventually - DH got a letter from them a few months ago, his parents bought him Bonds in the 70s when he was young but the details had been lost in the mists of time. Presumably they tracked him down via electoral rolls, etc. Sadly there were no old prizes waiting to be claimed.

@Pinkdressinggownbelt if you register for an online account your PB numbers will be listed there for you.

SahliJ · 19/10/2023 08:07

Name change in here…and prizes.

Three cheques arrived yesterday, one £50 and two £25 on just over £10,000 invested.

Pretty happy, as I tend to win every other month on average.

paranoidnamechanger · 19/10/2023 08:13

They still send cheques? Wow, I thought these days cheques were obsolete.

Haha! Exciting when the envelope arrives.

More exciting yesterday when I read the first ‘letter’ with cheque attached, then realised in the same envelope there was a second, then a third!

My bank app is great as I can pay in by ‘photograph’.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 19/10/2023 08:27

£150 turned up in the post yesterday for DD. I think she only has about £1k.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/10/2023 13:47

They stopped my cheques years ago

Mine are bonds I've only had for about a year.

They must have known you were a Mumsnetter. 😉

CaveMum · 20/10/2023 13:44

If they are sending cheques I'd guess it is because you haven't registered a nominated bank account or said you want winnings reinvested?

Brumbies · 20/10/2023 20:36

I've just had an email saying I have won. In the middle of the month!!! I'm thinking it's a glitch and just a repeat email. Anyone had one?

VisionOfYou · 20/10/2023 21:28

I just got one too!

Brumbies · 20/10/2023 22:01

VisionOfYou · 20/10/2023 21:28

I just got one too!

Same amount won (as at beginning of the month)?

VisionOfYou · 20/10/2023 22:06

Yep,so i assume it’s just a glitch

mumda · 20/10/2023 22:42

I got an email today.. apparently it's the only one I've had this month so they're just very late sending it.
