Positive credit card balance

Hi all

Apologies for a potentially silly question .

I recently used a credit card for a large purchase and then paid the balance in full over a few months.

I have since received a large refund on my credit card so the balance is positive by a chunk,

I don't use this card normally and don't plan to want to use that amount of money but I'm not sure how to get the money back to my bank account instead .

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Yes just ring them and they’ll transfer to another account for you.

As above, ask them to transfer it. I had this with a flight I had to cancel last year, it was really easy to get back but it was a credit card linked to my current account so not sure if that made it easier.

Yes just call them. They will refund it to the account you paid it from if you paid by direct debit etc. Really easy. They do it all the time.

If ringing them is difficult, eg you can't pass security or they don't pick up, you could just spend the balance on normal spending like groceries, travel, whatever else you'd otherwise pay on a debit card until it's used up.

@BarbaraofSeville that is a fab idea too.

I'd just use it and then when its back to 0 again if you don't need a credit card then get rid of it.
