30 hours childcare and new job

I've just been offered a job, and will need the 30 hours childcare, currently entitled to 15. Apparently it's advised to claim by the 31st of July, so obviously, being just a few days past that I'd like to apply ASAP.

Does anyone know how soon I can apply? I've had no paperwork yet as it's subject to references but I know my references are sound. Do I need proof of employment when I make the application?

If you miss the deadline, then you don’t get it until the following term’s deadline, it’s an odd system. Hope it doesn’t cause too many issues.

When you apply, you have to tick that you are starting the new job within 30 days.. is this the case?

The deadline for autumn term is 31st August not July. Apply for your code now and it will be ready for September.

Yes I'm expecting to start in two weeks, so that's good to hear that I can still do it. I'll do that now, thanks for the help, all of you.

It is a stupid system though, that someone could get offered a job on Sept 1st to start that week and miss a whole term of free hours.
