Evening everyone, please could someone advise me on what to do. I was on long term sick from work and have only just returned. I work for the NHS so my wage at the end of June included the bonus and back pay, this month after nursery and vehicle deductions and reduced pay due to being off sick until last week I have received no wage at all, and to top it all off my universal credit payment is 0 becase of last months bonus and back pay!! I literally don't know what to do! I have a 2 year old and I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my second (same dad) but dad kicked us out because he doesn't want another child. I can't miss my rent payment as I'll get evicted. Ex partner has more than enough in his bank to help but is refusing! (And believe me I've begged him!) I've been through citizens advice and all i could get was a food bank voucher. The food bank is 9 miles away and I can't afford to put fuel in my car to get there. I've also begged my local council for a discretionary housing payment but got nowhere. I just feel like I've failed my son and don't want to be here anymore, he deserves so much better

In the medium term: you need to try to get a child maintenance order: before applying, it might help if knows that if he doesn't reach an agreement informally to help pay for his child, he will be served a court order. You could also think about your support network— do his parents know he's not contributing / could pressure be put on that way.

But for your short term cash flow, there are organisations like the Healthcare Workers Foundation that lend or give money to NHS workers in dire need, and you may well be eligible. Have a google / ask at work.

How can I get my ex-partner to pay child maintenance? | GN Law

3 main options for arranging child maintenance payments with your ex-partner: 1. informal agreements, 2. using the Child Maintenance Service 3. a court order.

Hello everyone,

We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask users to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong. We strongly advise against parting with any cash or giving away your personal details, and if you receive a PM which makes you uneasy - report it to us and we’ll take a look.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon.

Hi. Do MSE various switch offers - set up a dummy current account t (as martin lewis advises) - not all are instant but some will have the incentive in your bank in days!

Talk to your landlord and explain. You should be able to get a loan from universal credit which you pay back monthly.

On a separate note, why didn't you request your back pay to be spread out?

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 21:01

Speak to your landlord.
Sell something on marketplace to get a tenner for petrol and go to the foodbank.

Ash13490 · 31/07/2023 21:51

Becase I was off sick I wasn't able to access my work emails where an email was sent out to say we could have the payments spread out. By the time I knew I could have the payments spread out it was too late
