Refund on a credit card that no longer exists

I bought flights on my JL credit card last year, the credit card company stopped but I'm now due a refund. It'll go on the old account.
I can't access the old account either by phone or online.
What do I need to do to get the money back?

Phone the credit card company - they'll keep your information on file for 6 years post account closure. It'll go into a suspense account and they should be able to release funds to your bank account.

I've had this. I spoke to both the original credit card company and the refunding company.

I then had to wait until the attempted refund bounced, speak again ti the company making the refund and they were then happy to take the new card details. I think my old card was MBNA and the new one Virgin or something. The account had been closed for ages!

Thanks for starting this thread. We had somethign refunded which never appeared and we worked out it must have gone back on the old card. Will get DH to phone and ask.

The orginal credit card company doesn't exist any more, it's being managed by HSBC I think. I've got to call them.
I know my old login details but not the credit card number.

I had this! jL cards are now with HSBC. They should be able to find you from name and address I think, but I had the old card number (if you paid your cc off via online banking then you will have the card number as the reference for the payment)

They have a stupid online message thing but I wrote them a letter in the end! They transferred the credit balance to the bank account I gave them. Took a while
But not too bad.

Thank you for your reassurance.

@PinkFootstool
I think you've described what'll happen.
I called HSBC and they said the account is closed so might have to wait for the money to go back to EasyJet and then into a different account.
It's compensation rather than a refund.

Update
The money has been transferred into another account today. It all happened a lot quicker than I thought it would.
