Google Pay - why can't i download it on my iphone?

Can anyone help me with this? I can't see the app in the app store and can't figure out why. I've checked my app store location and it is United Kingdom.
I've been trying for ages.....

Subbing you are on Android? It's probably part of the phones operating system so doesn't need to be added.

You can’t get Google Pay on an iPhone, it’s been taken off the App Store - you need to use Apple Pay which is built into the Wallet app.

I’ve never actually done any research on this, but does not having Apple Pay mean you can’t use it as a payment method, or does it mean that if you are a resident in that country you can’t use your bank cards for Apple Pay?

As far as I know it uses exactly the same tech as contactless/Google Pay at the vendor end so seems weird that it wouldn’t be accepted… I’m not sure though but might be worth looking into.

Or you could get a cheap android phone.

What country doesn't use Apple Pay? I know China doesn't allow Google Pay due to the fact all Google services are banned due to privacy concerns (theirs, not mine), and you have to use Apple Pay instead, but I've never heard of anywhere where the opposite is true! What other country even blanket bans an entire major tech company like that? North Korea???

Sounds like it might be best to get a cheap Android phone just for payments, or (given the amount of phone thefts lately just to get into people's Google Wallet or Apple Pay) maybe just use your credit/debit card as they're not a very cashless society anyway.
