How long for car insurer to admit liability

I was rear ended over the May half term.

My insurer said that they believe the other party was responsible for the accident but they need to wait for the response from the other insurer. At the scene, the driver kept trying to pass the blame to me, saying that it only happened because I had initially taken my foot off the brake and then stopped again (we were at a junction).

How long does a claim like this normally take? Do the insurers have a certain time period in which they have to respond? My car has been repaired, but I would like my excess back!

Have you 'leaned on' your own insurer for an account of their dealings with the culprit's outfit.

I was involved in a really bad coach accident, no other vehicles involved, totally the drivers fault. It took 6 years for the insurance company to accept liability.

This should be straight forward enough. The other insurer don't have any arguments.

Get your insurer to chase the admission. If they've paid for your vehicle damage they should be chasing that anyway.
