So i have a joint mortgage with stbxh, i pay for the house and all associated costs. Only thing he has been paying for was life insurance and house insurance. Hes now cancelled them both.

My question is what type of life insurance/house insurance do i need, i have idea.

It needs to be as basic and cheap as possible.

Oh to add i have nothing of significant value in the house apart from the tv and the xbox and a laptop.

Any advice welcome!

Use comparethemarket* to find a cheap and cheerful house insurance policy.
Decide if you want buildings only or buildings and contents to cover your possessions as well. A condition of the mortgage if probably that you need to have buildings insurance as a minimum.
Life assurance for who? Your ex? Or you? If you ex he will need to answer the underwriting questions which he might not want to do.
If you, do you have dc? If not, do you really need it?

*Other price comparison sites are available. CTM are probably the biggest.
