Hi all

I've come home today to a phone message from the inland revenue asking me to phone them by 8pm on Monday. I'm a terrible worrier and I'm now frantic at what the problem is. Has anyone else had a call like this? or does anyone work there. The message simply said phone back with my national insurance number for ID purposes.

There is nothing you can do until Monday at 9 o'clock. No point getting in a state before then truly as it may all be nothing. Are you PAYE?

Did they say Inland Revenue as it isn't called that any more. It is HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

Sadly I have had alot of calls from them like this, all bollocks left hand not knowing what right hand has agreed to and so on.

I agree with Stuffitllama relax nothing can be done until monday.

if it helps the last time they contacted me someone hand delivered a letter to me to make sure I got it.. all a miss understanding .. not my fault at all.

Yep I am.Thank fully they are open tomorrow so I won't have to wait too long but I am already in a panic.

I had a problem with them recently in that when I first met my xh we rented out my house. He took care of it all and I recently found out that I should have declared the income to the tax people. I thought I had sorted this as I managed to find some details (it was about 6 years ago) and when I spoke to the tax office they said that the amount of profit I made was so minimal they wouldn't take any action. I have this in writing.

My x is very sneaky though so I dread to think what else may have been going on.

Telephone lines open at 8am Mon BTW

barmybird · 23/02/2008 19:46

Yep they did say H M Revenue and Customs I'm just to lazy to type it all out.

I know I can't do anything till tomorrow but money is tight for me and dd so anything like this freaks me out completely. Plus I know he will protect himself (we've had problems with Tax Credit too because he didn't declare things when we were together- this has resulted in us both having to pay back 300 pounds and they are already saying that we have the same amount to pay back from another year. It feels never endinga nd very scary.

IR are always doing this.. details in five different offices and nobody knows what's going on and who did you speak to last time? Good luck but don't panic barmy x

I've got a letter with the womans name on. She was lovely to be honest. I apologised and gave as much info as I could which thankfully matched the details she had.

I'll phone tomorrow and hope its something and nothing! Off to get a big glass of wine. Thanks ladies, its good to have someone there telling me to calm down
