Do I contact the fitting firm anyway? Or go straight to the insurance company? Strangely, there doesn't appear to be any damage (even to the bottles on the wine rack immediately underneath!?) so it's possibly a straightforward job of re-fixing it, but would quite like to know if the kitchen company has any obligation before I phone them.

For a minute I thought it fell in a three year old. You probably would be better off getting a quote to fix it, maybe the original fitter will do an act of goodwill and fit it for you?

I mean on a three year old.

Oops, yes. See the confusion. Trying to get across succinctly that it's probably out-of-guarantee

Speak to the fitter. Even if the fitter charges you he'll probably charge you less than £50. If there's no damage you can't claim on your insurance. Besides, you'll probably have an excess.

Don't think insurance will cover it as it's either the fitters fault or wear and tear. Had the bottles been damaged then you could have claimed for them if you ahve accidental damage cover!
