I am a regular mumsnetter but have name changed as anyone who knows me will immediately recognise the scenario.

I have been to the police and social services about this.

My Grandma has paid over thousands of pounds to a group of clairvoyants who seem to be lead by a man called Anthony Carr. He sends her individual psychic reports which she pays £30 a go for as well as paying for lucky numbers of predictions. She has also been sending sums of money to companies who contact her and say who have won half a million please send £30 to cover administration fees. I think, as dod the police and social services, these companies may be linked to the clairvoyants, as the clairvoyant will say you will be offered a large sum of money and then hey presto it happens.

She has also been sending money to a company called ELG marketing in Amsterdam it started at £50 a month and went up to £150. We are not sure what they are but we are looking into it, I think they are another sweepstake draw.

All of this has left my grandma thousands of pounds in debt and unable to afford the social care she needs or adequate housing.

Has anyone else any experience of this or know of this man Anthony Carr or ELG marketing?

shameless bump, but it is OK as I am not flogging anything.

LadyMuck · 21/02/2008 22:15

Anthony Carr is in Wikipedia. I think that ELG is a Eurolottery fraud.

bossybritches · 21/02/2008 22:16

bump- yes have heard of his but sorry no advice.

marmadukescarlet · 21/02/2008 22:26

I'm so sorry for your GM, what a dreadful situation.

No advice, just sympathy.

twinsetandpearls · 21/02/2008 22:27

Thanks Ladymuck. I think she has stopped giving them money, aparantly they have targetted old and vulnerable people all over her local area.

marmadukescarlet · 21/02/2008 22:29

Is that you TSAP?

(Glad to see you back)

edam · 21/02/2008 22:30

You and Yours on Radio 4 ran an item about this today - may be some useful info on the BBC website?
Sorry to hear your poor Grandma has fallen victim to these low-lives.

twinsetandpearls · 21/02/2008 22:30

marmadukescarlet · 21/02/2008 22:45

Sorry tsap, that's why I asked if it was you.

Still lovely to 'see' you.
