My H has decided that he wants to go down the legal & expensive route rather than through mediation. Hopefully he will change his mind, but if he goes ahead how are these costs met? He seems to think that the legal fees will be removed from the pot prior to settlements being made, so if he ran up a 30k bill it would be taken from the proceeds of the house & essentially reduce the amounts we both would get. If this is the case he would be wanting to fritter away as much money as possible regardless of where it would leave me & the kids. Im keen to involve solicitors as little as possible & am hoping that we are each responsible for our own legal fees which we each meet from our own settlement. Which is right?
