Anyone familiar with Monzo pots?

My dd's boyfriend has moved in with us and I would like him to pay his rent directly into a Monzo pot within my Monzo account. Does anyone know if this is possible please?

I think you would need Monzo plus

I think he needs to set up a DD to your Monzo account, then you need to set up the scheduled payment from account to pot. He can’t pay direct into a pot.

I’ve done it for my Christmas fund - DD from current account to Monzo, then it gets moved to the pot automatically on the day I’ve chosen.

I have Monzo Premium and I still don't think that's an option, though it does make it possible to make payments directly out of pots.

Thanks all. I didn't think it would be possible so I will just schedule a payment from current account into the 'rent' pot. I wish they would change this! It would be much simpler...

When you actually think about it though, I'm not sure how easily it could even be achieved. Bank transfers coming in from outside the bank are made to your unique account number and sort code. But pots don't have a separate account number/sort code, they're a part of your main account. So there'd be no way for Monzo to know when a payment was received that it was intended for a particular pot.

Just FYI you can do this on Chase 🙂 think you can have up to 10 saving accounts/pots and each one has its own account number

You can sort of do it using the salary sorter function. But it might be easier just to transfer it each time.
You also might be able to do some with IFTTT I’ve created one applet but that was a couple of years ago.

I would just transfer it manually to a pot once it comes into your account. Takes 2 seconds.

Yep, as someone said. Use payment sorter. It's not automatic, but it remembers the allocation to the pot. Takes seconds.
