… but my pension contributions bring my net income below 50k do I still need to fill in a self assessment tax form?
I know I don’t need to pay any child benefit back as my net income is £48k but I wasn’t sure if I still needed to fill in the form? Thanks

No

If it’s salary sacrifice then no. If you pay your post tax salary into a SIPP then yes you will need to fill out a self assessment to claim the higher rate tax relief.

If you mean your adjusted net income is under £50k - salary minus pension contributions, but before tax, then no, if it's salary sacrifice you don't need to do the form.
